Charon reveals that a new kind of crystal has lately appeared on the black market—strange, spiritless shards known as "dusk crystals," which she wagers were mined from a heretofore undiscovered Mothercrystal. Clive sets out to investigate.
Clive follows the dusk crystals' trail to the Sagespire, where he unearths the frightful fruit of the Fallen's experiments into crafting crystals—the heart-powered Eikonoklaste Omega most frightful among them. Though he and his allies best the godslayer in battle, the folly of their forebears weighs heavily upon them.
Often is it that letters requesting aid find their way to Clive's reading desk. Rarer, though, are occasions when said letters are anonymous. Even rarer still, however, are occasions when the aid in question is to rescue an Eikon thought lost for several centuries. This so happens to be one of those rarest of occasions.
Clive, Jill, and Joshua travel to Mysidia, where they assist the Motes of Water in releasing Leviathan's Dominant—the baby Waljas—from both spell and fate that bind him. For the Motes, the tides are once again calm, and their future once again bright.
