Ooh, love this backstory. I love the moral greyness of Setzer and Darill chasing after their dreams by developing machinery for Vector but then also spiriting away the fruits of their labor at the last minute. I like how they were both on the same page regarding what they were doing, and it makes their desire for freedom make sense. Fascinating story!
I love all the worldbuilding here! From bitty Setzer trying to teach himself how to fly - an excellent snapshot of him as a kid! - to his reasonings for leaving Figaro to find a place where he can be himself, you cover so much ground here. I especially loved the note about how he tried to write to the young prince; imagine what trouble they might have gotten into if Edgar wrote him back, lol!
And Darill and Setzer stealing their airships and flying into the night is just perfect. ♥ Thank you so much for writing this for me - I really enjoyed it!
