Ooh~ I really liked how raw this was, and how difficult you made it for Sabin to leave - the way it's not only emotionally difficult but all these methods of transportation have been closed to him and his foot ;^; I also really liked the suddenness of the final letter from Edgar. Like, just one day he knows he's not going to be able to sneak out any more letters and that's it, and how painful that is.

Thank you for writing! I really enjoyed this take on Sabin's backstory.

In all seriousness though I love your writing, and how each chapter gets punctuated with a fond memory Sabin had with Edgar and how it spurs him on emotionally. I love how you gave the world so much more color with the paper and the guardsmen, as well as overdue characterization for Duncan and Vargas. The raw material Sabin had to work with for the next 10 years feels that much more powerful, and at one point I really felt how determined these twins were to hold on, to duty and their freedom in a way that respected the other. This was so damn good.
